Community Voices formed over ten years ago at MSAD #27 in Fort Kent and as part of a grant that the school district received from the Maine Office of Substance Abuse. The purpose was to engage community and youth to work on strategies to reduce underage drinking. School officials, parents, community members, law enforcement, and youth formed the coalition and have been working diligently since. In 2008, the coalition began receiving its funding from the two Healthy Maine Partnerships, Healthy Aroostook and Power of Prevention.
Our Vision: Healthy Community without substance abuse.
Our Mission: To foster a community climate that discourages the misuse of substances by engaging in community wide education, advocacy, and action strategies.
We encourage EVERYONE to look around and learn a little more about alcohol and underage drinking, the harms, and what they can do to help prevent illegal use, and substance abuse.
